Controlled alpha policy

Package and traveller responsibilities

This page explains the agreement that applies when a sender asks a traveller to carry a personal package.

For senders

  • Describe the contents, purpose, value, weight, dimensions, and recipient accurately.
  • Confirm that the package is personal and not commercial stock or resale inventory.
  • Give the traveller permission to inspect the package and its contents, as reasonably needed, before deciding whether to carry it.
  • Accept that the traveller may refuse or return the package if it differs from the declaration, appears unsafe, or cannot be carried lawfully.
  • Do not include weapons, illegal drugs, cash, hazardous goods, or restricted goods without the required authorisation.

For travellers

  • Review the declaration and inspect the package before deciding whether to accept it.
  • Accept only a package you are satisfied is accurately described, safe, and lawful to carry.
  • Once you accept it, you are responsible for the decision to carry it and for following the rules that apply to your baggage, airline, airport, customs authority, and journey.
  • You bear the risk of that carrying decision, including delay, refusal, seizure, loss, damage, or other consequences arising from the package or its transport.
  • The package may be treated as a personal item between you and the sender for this test, but that wording does not change a carrier’s or customs authority’s legal classification.
  • Do not carry a package if you cannot make the required declaration or are unsure that it is allowed.

Handoff and responsibility

Frienship does not take physical custody, inspect or seal packages, act as a carrier or customs broker, or guarantee that a package will be accepted for travel. Sender and traveller must agree the handoff safely and comply with the participation terms, carrier rules, customs requirements, and applicable law.

Controlled test boundary

During the controlled test, use only the information and materials approved for the test. Do not upload real identity documents or include sensitive personal or financial details unless the Frienship team has separately confirmed that the relevant alpha gate is open.
